Two Icons and Poll

posted by Nikana

Two new icons have been added to our Icon Page so go check them out!

Also, here is an article I found on the web that was published a couple of days ago about actor Aasif Mandvi (he plays Zhao in the movie). Read an excerpt below.

Mandvi is also looking forward to the July 2 release of M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender,” in which he plays a villainous Commander Zhao.

“I haven’t seen any of the movie yet, just the trailers,” he told India-West in a phone interview. “But it looks pretty exciting. It’s a big action movie, and at times, I felt more like a stuntman than an actor. You study Shakespeare and Chekov, but at the end of the day, you realize you love doing an action movie!

“I realized that I love jumping around and having 50 gallons of water thrown on me. It’s fun, and martial arts are something I’ve never done.”

Easy, it’s not. “I had three months of training with these stunt guys; I’d have to practice one movement every day, for seven hours a day,” he said.

Lastly, I finally replaced the poll in the POLL PAGE. I mean it’s still basically the same question but the poll but I replaced it with a working link (the previous poll I used somehow deleted the “View Results” page).

Calendar Photos

posted by Nikana

Two more photos of the upcoming Last Airbender 2011 Calendar have been leaked! Check them out in the GALLERY.

Also, Remember the Casting Call announcement? The Casting Call took place yesterday and turned out, thousands of people attended! More details below:

Shyamalan’s Open Casting Call Draws Thousands in Phila.
by KYW’s John McDevitt

Thousands of people were were on Independence Mall on Saturday to audition for a M. Night Shyamalan movie.

Producers for The Last Airbender repeated their call for boys and girls aged 6-16 and adults 18-65, especially those with a martial arts background.

Kane Johnson, 7, of Warrington, Pa. got up real early to stand in line for the open call:

“This is my karate uniform. I’m a red belt and I go to demos for sparing, and I do weapons, numbchucks, bowstaff, comas.”

Shooting is set for March 22nd and expected to film locally for the next two months.

One last thing. Please forgive us once again for the lack of updates. We have been having internet connection problems these past few days.

New Trailer?

posted by Nikana

Some person re-posted this. I’m not quite certain where this information came from and I can’t exactly clarify if this is true or not though it does seem official. Here it is anyway.

Yesterday I was called for a screening where Paramount showed us a new trailer for the upcoming The Last Airbender, and I assure you: it will be awesome!

Everything went by so fast, despite the trailer was probably around two minutes. Forgive me that my memory isn’t that good, and forgive my mobile phone for the low quality pic it took.

The trailer started with Aang running through a beautiful, lush rainforest/swamp environment for multiple seconds. Then he arrived at this cave, which he entered. As he walked in the total darkness, you could hear the narrator saying something like: ‘You have a destiny.’

After a title card that said ‘Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies present’, epic images of the four bending styles flashed by. The only two shots I remember where those of an unknown Earthbending guy kicking two enormous rocks out of the ground and the Fire Nation Prince (I’m sorry, I’ve only watched the show a couple of times) kicking a huge amount of fire into the screen.

Then we saw a fierce confrontation of that Fire Nation Prince and the General played by the ‘The Daily Show’ actor, in which they yelled at each other what was best for the Fire Nation’s future. The narrator had all these lines about ‘faith’ and ‘destiny’ and that there were people after him (Aang?).

Another title card that said ‘this summer’. Then there were more shots: the gang flying on the furry bison, avoiding fireballs fired from the ships below, ladders pushed against a high wall that almost seemed to be carved out of the ice, fighting Water- and Firebenders at the same location, some dramatic character shots (one of them was a really ‘touching/realistic’ shot of the furious Fire Nation Prince marching across the deck of a ship, yelling ‘I want him alive!’ and one shot of one of the girl fighters with the fans jumping out of a tree [see the picture below])

It ended with Aang speaking to a large group of people (reminded me of the scene in James Cameron’s: Avatar where Jake gives an encouraging speech to the natives) where he reminded them of the fact that although he was the restorer of balance, he could not safe the world at his own.

I’ll contact my colleague if he knows some more about what we’ve seen, but for now, this is all I can remember of the trailer. It was funny because it wasn’t scored yet, it was just sound effects, drumbeats and the narration, felt less epic than it would probably feel with a proper score.

I have no clue when this trailer will be out, but I bet that it’ll be very soon. It was supposed to be a surprise (Paramount really wanted this to remain secret until the last moment) but I’m a big M. Night fan, so I thought you’d appreciate it if you’d hear some about this upcoming epic!

Here’s even one photo that was taken by that person.

Another thing, PARAMOUNT IS HAVING ANOTHER CASTING CALL! If you want to be in “The Last Airbender” and you are in Philadelphia on March 13, 2010, why not audition? More details can be found at the flyer HERE.

Special thanks to LaF for the announcement.

One last thing. A friend of mine opened an Ashley Tisdale fansite. Please visit Adoring Ashley HERE. It would mean so much to him and to me if you did.

Jackson R. Interview

posted by Nikana

A new interview with Jackson Rathbone has been conducted by Reelz Channel. In it, Jackson discusses how his role as Sokka in “The Last Airbender” prepared him for his role as Jasper Hale in “Eclipse”.

[Note: Did you notice how Jackson pronounced "Sokka" like "Soh-ka". In my last update, the woman who was talking about the action figures in the video pronounced "Aang" as "Ong". Let us hope they pronounce everything properly in the movie.]

I have added 272 screencaps of the interview to the Gallery.

The news doesn’t end there! The Official Last Airbender website has a new feature. Click on the photo below to find out your element!

Cast Profiles

posted by Nikana

I added a new section to the site: Cast Profiles. You can get to know a little more about the lead actors in the film by clicking here.

Now it’s time for some news! For those who don’t know yet, Nickelodeon will be releasing some “The Last Airbender” toys this year! Read the article below from MTV:

Nickelodeon Consumer Products debuted the upcoming line of toys based on “The Last Airbender” today, including various waves of 3 3/4-inch action figures, as well as larger, action-enabled figures, costumes and other props based on Shyamalan’s adaptation of the hit anime/manga series.

Among the toys featured in the line were (of course) figures based on the film’s hero, Aang (played by Noah Ringer), the villainous Prince Zuko (played by “Slumdog Millionaire” actor Dev Patel). Toys based on Sokka (played by “Twilight” alum Jackson Rathbone) and Katara (Nicola Peltz) also factored into several waves of figures.

Oh, and did we mention the fully ride-able Appa the Sky Bison?

“We worked very closely with M. Night, the rest of the Paramount team and our in-house design team, along with our partner Spin-Master, to come up with the right assortment, the right size for these action figures and make sure we we had representation of all the nations within the ‘Arbender’ series,” said Nickelodeon’s Lourdes Arocho.

For those looking to mark their calendars, Wave 1 of “The Last Airbender” toys arrives June 1, Wave 2 will hit shelves closer to the movie’s release date in July, and the final batch will arrive closer to the holidays.

Here’s a video sneak peak of the toys from our Youtube Channel.

If you’re looking for photos of the action figures, I’ve already uploaded them to the Gallery even before I opened this site. Click here to go directly there.
